Made in CaithnessPromoting the talented residents of Caithness
Julie
is secretary of the Caithness Craft Association and manufacturers her own
jewellery. Since 2005 she has displayed work at the refurbished Wick
Airport. She has continued her husband's earlier bead buying adventures since
they travelled to Egypt in 2006, and Morocco in 2007, looking to source local
co-operative produced native beads, with which to create beautiful jewellery
designs at her home in Caithness. She had
a passion to promote not only her own work, but the talent of Caithness and
embarked on an exciting new venture to bring this talent under one roof.
And what an Aladdin’s cave it is!

Anyone looking for unusual gifts from Caithness will certainly find a good choice here. Visitors to the town will be pleased that they can find something made in Caithness to take home for themselves or as gifts to friends and relatives. Special commissions can also be made if you enquire at the shop. Made
in Caithness is intended to be a self-funding shop, where Crafters and Artists
who live in Caithness can display their quality products for sale.
There are no membership fees and no commission on sales, other than a
small commission on those items priced at over £50.
The Crafters and Artists receive the full amount paid for each item, with
the shop being funded purely from display space rental.
The price on each item is a fixed price and cannot be bartered.
Staff can only sell items for the price the exhibitor has placed on the
label. The
staff serving in the shop are non-paid volunteer workers. They are
Crafters with some regular spare time and help support Julie in promoting the
talent of Caithness. Julie would welcome the opportunity to increase the
number of days/hours they are currently open, but this can only happen if some
people volunteer a few hours each week. The shop may be opened by prior
arrangement outwith these times. Thursdays
