Caithness BooksJim Bews news agentJim Bews is a well-known and very popular news agent and gift shop in Thurso. I've been shopping there since I was a child. Jim Bews was the first outlet to take stock of Brodie's books and they continue to sell them for me. They are extremely supportive of local authors and also stock a wide range of books on Caithness. They've also launched a website from where you can purchase some of these books if you're not local to Caithness. They also have a great giftshop stocking "with-it" ornaments and jewellery at very reasonable prices. I especially love going in there at Halloween and Christmas time to see their stock of themed toys and decorations. I often stand there drooling over them wondering why there wasn't anything like that around when I was a child. When I shake myself back to reality, there's often a few children staring up at me with big puppy dog eyes, desperately waiting their turn to look at the decorations and toys and tell mum and dad which ones they want. I smile and leave quickly, vowing to go back when it's quieter to choose what I want - but it's always busy! Jim Bews has a great range of gifts and party ideas to choose from - all at very reasonable prices. The staff serving in the shop are very welcoming and are always on hand to help out. Make sure you drop in to the shop. I hope I'll still be shopping at Jim Bews for the next 30 years.
